About 6Degrees Composers

Founded in 2010, 6Degrees Composers is dedicated to writing and performing music by Women. 6Degrees Composers is the brainchild of Regina Harris Baiocchi.

In the tradition of premiering music, Regina joined forces with sorors of American Women Composers, American Composers Forum, International Alliance of Women in Music, AACM—Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians, CUBE, BMI, and ASCAP

Regina Harris Baiocchi, 6Degrees Composers

Music by composer, author, poet, Regina Harris Baiocchi has been performed by Detroit and Chicago symphony orchestras, Los Angeles Philharmonic, US Army Band, American Guild of Organists, Chicago, Gaudete, and Milwaukee brass quintets, Lincoln Trio, et al. Recent commissions include Piano Poems (Sarah Cahill), Deliverance (Access Contemporary Music), Landscapes (3M Trio for Ear Taxi), and Pastiche (Gaudete Brass for Ear Taxi). Kyong Mee Choi, 6Degrees Composer

Kyong Mee Choi received several prestigious awards and grants including John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, Robert Helps Prize, Aaron Copland Award, John Donald Robb Musical Trust Fund Commission, Illinois Arts Council Fellowship. Her music was published at Ablaze, CIMESP, SCI, EMS, ERM media, SEAMUS, and Détonants Voyages. kyongmeechoi.com

Born in Cebu, Philippines, Ester “Hana” Hanviriyapunt married a Thai National and moved to the US to study: business administration for her husband and music for Ester. Chicago-based, Ester has played piano and sung in the US and internationally, exceling in global music. Ester performs regularly at Le Piano where she can be heard singing and playing piano, including jazz, world music (in 20 languages) and the wonderful repertoire of Melba Liston. buenconsejohana@mac.com

Janice Misurell-Mitchell, 6Degrees Composer

Janice Misurell-Mitchell, composer, flutist, and vocal artist teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has taught and performed in the US, Europe, Mexico, Palestine, Israel, Taiwan, and China. Patricia Morehead, 6Degrees Composer

Patricia Morehead was the founder of the Composers Forum at the Merit Music School, has taught composition online in Vermont and at several universities in the Chicago area. She is the Northern Ontario representative and Associate Composer of the Canadian Music Center. Her music is recorded by Navona and published by Jeanné. www.patriciamorehead.com
